For mutual fund investments in India, the following documents are accepted as valid Proof of Identity (PoI):

PAN Card – Mandatory for most investors (except exempt categories using PEKRN).

Aadhaar Card

Voter’s Identity Card

Driving License

National Population Register (NPR) letter containing name and address details

NREGA Job Card, signed by an officer of the State Government

Any other Government-issued photo identification card as notified by the Central Government or the Regulator
Important points:

All documents must be valid and current at the time of submission.

Self-attestation of copies is mandatory.

Originals may need to be produced for verification, or documents must be attested by authorized officials.

For NRIs/PIOs, additional attestation (by the Indian Embassy, Consulate, or other approved authority) may be required.
